Honouring Nipissing University’s Alumni Award winners

Five people have been honoured as Nipissing University Alumni Award winners.

A recognition event was held Thursday night.

Megan Odd a faculty researcher and professor at Canadore was honoured with the Rising Star Alumni Award.

The Influential Alumni Award goes to Dr. Jonathan Pitt, an instructor at Nipissing’s Schulich School of Education and Faculty of Arts and Science.

Deputy Mayor and Executive Assistant to the University President Maggie Horsfield is the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award winner.

Paige Trudeau-Shemilt, who shared her personal battle with cancer at various events at a young age and co-organized Jordan’s Bash for Hope is the recipient of the Philanthropy Alumni Award.

The honourary alumni award goes to former reporter, communications director and chair of Nipissing’s Indigenous Council on Education Maurice Switzer.

“I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to this year’s deserving Alumni Award recipients,” shared Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor, Nipissing University. “Their dedication, talent, kindness, and meaningful contributions to their communities truly embody what it means to be Laker.”
