The Laurier Woods Conservation Area is back open to the public.
An update from the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority states the boardwalk reconstruction project has been completed ahead of schedule.
“The contractors put in extra effort to complete the boardwalks ahead of schedule, enabling us to reopen Laurier Woods earlier than expected,” says Troy Storms, Lands and Stewardship Manager.
With the project involving two boardwalks on the main trail, access to the woods was closed Sept. 25.
A mid-October completion date was expected.
Officials previously said the $68,900 project consists of a 25-foot and 65-foot boardwalk with funding from the conservation authority and the Friends of Laurier Woods.
