Armed Forces Day will be back next June.

Council has passed a motion in support of the celebration, allowing for the Canadian Forces Snowbirds to fly over the city.

A staff report also says the Skyhawks will parachute over the city while a CH-147 Chinook will once again land at the waterfront.

“Next year, 2024, Armed Forces Day will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force,” says Mayor Peter Chirico. “It’s going to be a special day.”

He says they’ll be able to celebrate what the armed forces mean to our community.

“They’re the reason that we get to sleep at night because they take care of us in so many different ways,” Chirico says. “Those days that we have for Armed Forces Day are a great opportunity for our community to say thank you to the men and women that serve in our armed forces.”

Next year’s Armed Forces Day will be held on June 19.
