North Bay OPP lay 77 charges during Operation Impact

Ontario Provincial Police report dozens of drivers were charged in the North Bay area this past holiday weekend.

From Oct. 6-9, North Bay OPP took part in Operation Impact.

The campaign targeted impaired, distracted and aggressive driving, along with a lack of seatbelt usage.

Police say 77 charges were laid, including 52 for speeding.

Another 17 were traffic-related offences with others relating to insurance, alcohol and off-road vehicles.

33 warnings were also issued.

OPP took part in nine RIDE checks over the long weekend.

Police say one driver was issued a three-day driver’s licence suspension and a commercial motor vehicle was taken out of service.
