Fire crews and the community “Fill a Fire Truck’ for the food bank

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services says its ‘Fill a Fire Truck’ event last week was a huge success.

Over 3,300 pounds of food was collected, with $4,080 also donated.

Fire crews were set up at Parker’s Your Independent Grocer and Sobeys on Algonquin last Wednesday and Thursday collecting donations for the North Bay Food Bank.

“The generosity of our community is tremendous and North Bay Fire & Emergency Services looks forward each year to this annual event to help such a worthwhile cause while promoting Fire Prevention Week,” says Fire Prevention Officer Chris Nichol.

With cooking continuing to be the leading cause of home fires, officials say this year’s theme was ‘Cooking safety starts with you. Pay attention to fire prevention.’
