Employers in North Bay are struggling to fill jobs in the city. Stacie Fiddler, who heads the Labour Market Group, says in some cases, businesses are looking for workers outside Canada and the U.S.
The labour group studied job vacancies for the second half of last year and found more than 2,300 jobs going unfilled. Fiddler says some of these jobs are in social assistance, administration, retail and support.
Two thirds of the postings are entry level while six percent require five or more years of experience. The average wage works out to about $15 an hour.
