Main Street rehabilitation project getting ready for a winter break

Construction on the latest phase of the Main Street rehabilitation project is wrapping up.

The city says final work at the intersection of Wyld and Main streets is scheduled for this week, including paving and line painting.

That will be followed by the installation of traffic lights on Friday.

“Once this work has been completed, temporary fencing on Block 4 (between Wyld and Ferguson Streets) will be removed, and the area will be fully reopened to both vehicles and pedestrians,” states a release. “The contractor is expected to return in November to install street lighting.”

Officials say the project will then break for winter and resume in the spring, beginning with a section of Ferguson Street, from Main Street to Oak Street.

That will be followed by two more blocks of Main, from Ferguson to Cassells streets.
