The unofficial kick-off to the North Bay Santa Fund is on the air on 106.3 Jet FM and Country 90.5 FM Friday morning.
“It’s hugely important. It’s one of the biggest fundraising efforts that we are involved in this year,” says Geoff Richardson, co-chair of the fund. “It always really is the unofficial kickoff to the season of giving that we witness every year for North Bay.”
The 12-hour radiothons will take place from 6 am to 6 pm.
This is the Santa Fund’s 76th year with Richardson saying they’re looking to fill 475 hampers.
“About 1,600 to 1,800 individuals are going to be receiving help from North Bay this year to help make their Christmas a little bit easier,” he says. “Our fundraising goal because of those 475 that we’re trying to aim for is $200,000.”
The baskets include a full turkey dinner, groceries, and age-appropriate toys for all the kids in the house.
Friday is also the deadline for those in need to apply to receive a hamper.
Details can be found on the Santa Fund website.
