The city’s water and wastewater budget is the focus of three meetings scheduled this week.
The first session takes place on Monday, Jan 8. at 5:30 pm, to kick off council’s 2024 budget deliberations.
A staff report says the proposed budget, which includes the cost to deliver existing service levels, is up $1.2 million, or 5%, over the 2023 water and wastewater budget.
Water rates will also be discussed.
Staff say if a 50-50 fixed/variable rate is maintained, the impact to a residential customer with an average monthly consumption of 14 cubic meters of water is a monthly increase of $3.86.
That monthly increase drops to $2.45, if a 45% fixed and 55% variable rate is recommended.
