Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for much of the northeast, including the North Bay area.
The weather agency says 15 to 30 cm of snow is possible.
Heavy snow and blowing snow is expected to affect the region Tuesday, with the worst conditions expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Poor visibility is also expected at times with winds gusting up to 60 km/h.
Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services says school buses are cancelled for all areas today (Jan. 9).
Schools remain open.
