It’s a “rare problem”, but officials with Osprey Links Golf Course are asking snowmachine users to stay off the course.
Jeff Rogerson, general manager, says a neighbour contacted them on the weekend that some orange safety fencing had been removed and snowmachines entered the property.
“We do understand snowmobile trails are not open yet and we know the snowmobile club is working feverishly to get them ready so everyone can get on them and everyone’s anxious because we got new snow,” he says. “But we do remind people that private property is private.”
The course could be impacted too.
“The golf course is sensitive, and we have to take care,” Rogerson says. “We have irrigation, we have greens, we have tees and special areas. We’re just trying to keep traffic off it.”
He adds they hope it’s a long season for snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing and more, noting winter tourism is important for the area.
