Nipissing University says new affordable off-campus housing options are being created for students thanks to a partnership with an online homesharing platform.
Officials say SpacesShared connects students who are seeking safe and affordable housing, with older adult hosts.
“We’re proud to be working with SpacesShared to offer a community-minded solution to the housing challenges faced by students that aligns with the university’s commitment to building meaningful connections with the community,” said Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor, Nipissing University. “The homesharing model offers unique opportunities for students and hosts to learn from one another, eases financial burdens, and contributes to a strong sense of community and connection across generations.”
The university says benefits to older adult hosts include extra income, help around the house, and an opportunity to give back.
Community information sessions will be held in the coming weeks with information to be posted to Nipissing’s online events calendar.
