OCHU says nurse was let go after speaking out about worker safety

The Ontario Council of Hospital Unions is calling on the North Bay Regional Health Centre to immediately reinstate a nurse who was allegedly let go.

The organization claims a mental health nurse was dismissed after speaking out about patient violence against nurses. The council also wants new legislation adopted that would make it a criminal offence to assault a health care worker.

The OCHU will be holding a news conference this morning to bring attention to the issue.
