City police ‘freezin’ for a reason with polar plunge

The North Bay Police Service is once again hosting a polar plunge in support of Special Olympics.

The event is set for March 9 at Canadore College and Nipissing University with a large container of ice and water to be set up.

“The North Bay Police Service is excited to host the Polar Plunge once again this year in support of Special Olympics Ontario,” says Police Chief Scott Tod. “With community support, we will help fulfill dreams and make a meaningful impact to the lives of thousands of athletes. We hope you will join us in Freezin’ for a Reason.”

Proceeds from the event will support Special Olympics Ontario and will in turn help fund North Bay Special Olympics (for adults) and Near North Special Olympics (students).

The local polar plunge is one of 24 being hosted by police services across Ontario, with over a million dollars expected to be raised across the province this winter.
