22 Wing North Bay welcomes two new honourary colonels

Two new honourary colonels have assumed their roles at 22 Wing North Bay.

Ceremonies were held on Thursday with Tracie Marsh taking over as honourary colonel of 51 Aerospace Control & Warning (Operational Training) Squadron from Jake Lacourse.  

The new honourary colonel for 22 Wing CFB North Bay is Police Chief Scott Tod.  

He succeeds Mayor Peter Chirico.  

“As we bid farewell to Honorary Colonels Jake Lacourse and Peter Chirico, I extend my deepest gratitude for their exemplary service and unwavering dedication,” says Colonel Richard Jolette, 22 Wing and Canadian Air Defence Sector Commander. “Simultaneously, we warmly welcome Honorary Colonels Tracie Marsh and Scott Tod, who bring a fresh perspective and a wealth of experience to their respective roles.” 

Officials say the responsibilities of honourary colonels include: 
– Fostering esprit de corps
– Developing, promoting and sustaining strong community support for the unit
– Establishing and maintaining liaison with unit charities and associations
– Assisting the unit in hosting parades and other unit functions
– Carrying out other duties or providing expertise in matters where they are qualified through background and knowledge when requested by higher authority
– Assisting the unit through the donation of plaques, trophies for competitions/course
