Plenty of activities lined up for Le Carnaval

Le Carnaval des Compagnons is back for a 61st year.

A week of festivities celebrating the local Francophone community runs Feb. 4-10.

The opening ceremony is at Lee Park on Sunday from 4-6 pm with sliding, beaver tails, fireworks and more.

There’s also an art night on Wednesday at the WKP Kennedy Gallery, music at New Ontario Brewing on Thursday, and Boreal Day at West Ferris Arena on Feb. 10.

From 10 am to 3 pm that day there will be family activities, skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowshoeing, axe throwing, a snow sculpture contest, and the unveiling of Bonhomme.

Le Carnival wraps up that night with a closing show at the Capitol Centre.
