62-year-old Michael Vagnini has been found dead.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service says shortly before 2:30 pm on Feb. 13, officers were dispatched to the area of Reserve Camp Road on Atikiamekshing Anishnawbek First Nation after the OPP contacted GSPS with the location of a black 2021 Ram 1500 truck with the license plate matching the one that the Sudbury councillor was last seen driving on January 27.
They add he was found a short distance from the vehicle.
Officials say detectives are in the preliminary stages of the death investigation and at this time foul play is not suspected.
Detectives are working in collaboration with the OPP and the Coroner’s Office in relation to the death investigation.
A postmortem will be conducted through the Coroner’s Office to assist in determining the cause of death.
Police thank everyone who assisted in the search, adding the outpouring of support from the community has been unparalleled since he was first reported missing.
