Busy weekend for city police

The North Bay Police Service is investigating after a disturbance at a King Street East residence on Tuesday morning.

Officers were called just before 8 am.

“While a police presence remains on the scene, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public,” reads a statement from police.

Officials also say the OPP was on the scene to assist with the investigation.

Meantime, city police report a busy Family Day long weekend with 265 calls for service.

Three of those were sudden deaths.  

Other calls involved assaults, a sexual assault, an indecent act, a dozen collisions and more.  

Police also say although 911 hang-ups were down from previous weekends, dispatchers still answered 31 of the calls, with each one requiring time and valuable resources to resolve. 

Officials remind the public if someone misdials 911, they should stay on the line, or call 705-472-1234. 

Officers also conducted 40 traffic stops on the weekend, with a number of Provincial Offence Notices and sobriety tests issued.
