Plenty of area residents are ready to brave the cold and raise funds and awareness for The Gathering Place.
More than 150 people on 26 teams are registered for the Coldest Night of the Year run/walk Saturday, Feb. 24.
The goal is $55,000 with officials saying the funds will support operational needs at the community soup kitchen.
Along with providing meals daily to those in need, The Gathering Place has food outreach and food rescue programs and runs a seasonal community garden.

Saturday’s run/walk event starts at École secondaire Catholique Algonquin, stops at The Gathering Place on Cassells for a break and then heads back to the school.
