A 3×3 basketball tournament endorsed by the International Basketball Assocation (FIBA) is hitting the hardwood at the main Canadore College gym this weekend.
In fact, officials say it’s the very first FIBA-sanctioned 3×3 basketball tournament in Northern Ontario.
Over a dozen teams are competing for the $3,000 prize purse with representation from North Bay, Toronto, Ottawa and Atlanta, Georgia.
Admission to the “We The North FIBA 3×3 Tournament” is free with a non-perishable food donation for the North Bay Food Bank.
“From the bustling streets of America to the Olympics, 3×3 basketball has shot into the limelight with blistering speed, much like the pace the game is played with,” states a release. “We are inviting the people of North Bay to take in our 3-point contest and halftime show as you witness the best competition North of Toronto.”
The action starts Saturday, March 2 at 9:30 am with playoffs getting underway around 12:30 pm.
