OPP officers to up enforcement efforts as impaired driving rates rise 33 per cent

OPP officers will be putting more effort behind impaired driving enforcement.

That’s according to the service, who shares between 2018 and 2023, nearly 400 people lost their lives in impaired driving-related crashes.

In the same time frame, officers laid 33 per cent more impaired driving charges, and responded to 31 per cent more impaired related crashes.

Officials say it’s a clear sign drivers aren’t doing their part to keep the roads safe, and to be prepared to provide a breath sample during a traffic stop or a RIDE program
