Battalion advance while Voodoos win game one of NOJHL final

The North Bay Battalion will play Oshawa in the OHL Eastern Conference Final.

The Troops advanced with a 5-0 win over the Wolves in Sudbury on Thursday night, to sweep the playoff series 4-0.

Right winger Sandis Vilmanis picked up a hat trick in the win with Centre Dalyn Wakely scoring the other two goals.

Goalie Mike McIvor shutout the Wolves, saving all 36 shots he faced.

Details on when the Eastern Conference Final will begin have yet to be announced.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos scored a 5-2 win over the Greater Sudbury Cubs in game one of the championship series.

It’s Powassan’s sixth straight road win in the playoffs this year.

Five different Voodoos scored in the win.

Game 2 is Friday night in Sudbury.

The winner of the series will move on to compete in the Centennial Cup – Canadian National Junior A Championship, May 9-19, in Oakville.
