Decarbonize, demilitarize and decolonize.
That’s the call a cross-country Peace Caravan is bringing to Ottawa, with a stop in North Bay this week.
The western portion of the caravan left Vancouver on May 12 and is heading to Parliament Hill for a peace teach-in and rally on May 27-28, ahead of a military arms fair.
“This caravan is a call to action to bring Canadians together to talk about the interconnectedness of these mounting issues that have caused the failure of the Canadian government to address our growing social problems”, says Ellen Woodsworth, co-chair of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
Depending on the weather, the caravan will either be at the Kiwanis Bandshell at the waterfront, or inside the North Bay Public Library auditorium at 7 pm on Wednesday, May 22.
The event includes speakers, poetry, music and more.
