Breaking into police headquarters leads to charges

City police have charged a North Bay resident for breaking into police headquarters and assaulting an officer.

The North Bay Police Service says around 1 am on Monday a man started forcibly kicking the locked front doors of the Princess Street police building.

After the sliding doors came off their casing, police say the man pushed through and was intercepted by three officers before he could get through a second set of doors and into the main lobby.

Officials say after an officer was attacked a Conductive Energy Device was used to subdue the man.

The 35-year-old resident of North Bay faces a break, enter and commit assault charge.

He was held pending a bail hearing.
