Community foundation delivers $173,000 in grants to area organizations

25 local organizations are receiving grants from the North Bay and Area Community Foundation (NBACF).  

The foundation announced over $173,000 in grants have been handed out this year.  

“Our Annual Community Grants Program aims at providing much needed support to a wide range of local charitable organizations,” says Madysin Carrier, executive director. “None of this would be possible without the support of so many generous donors, fundholders, and sponsors in our community. Thank you and thank you to our recipients who are working so hard each day to make the projects we support possible.” 

Funding will support expenses such as essentials for children at school, emergency food supports, and much more.  

Funding recipients include:  

  • Amelia Rising Sexual Violence Support Centre – $2,000 
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters North Bay – $6,000  
  • Capital Centre – $9,500  
  • City of North Bay and North Bay North Stars – $8,000  
  • Crisis Centre North Bay – $8,000  
  • Dionne Quints Heritage Board – $7,779.12  
  • First Baptist Church 0 $1,000  
  • FIRST Team 1305 – $3,537 
  • Gathering Place – $17,521  
  • Hands the Family Help Network = $15,000  
  • Hope Awaits Ministries – $5,000  
  • Lakeshore Evangelical Missionary Church – $1,000  
  • Mattawa Historical Society – $7,685  
  • Near North Special Olympics – $10,000  
  • Municipality of East Ferris and the East Ferris Golden Age Club – $1,500  
  • North Bay and District Humane Society – $7,270  
  • North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation – $15,401  
  • Packsac Smiles – $5,000  
  • PADDLE Program – $11,000  
  • Rotary Club of North Bay (Rotary4Kids) – $5,000  
  • Salvation Army North Bay Corps – $7,000  
  • STEM Camp Foundation in partnership with Camp STEAM – $2,500  
  • United for Literacy – $3,500  
  • Victoria’s Quilts – $3,000  
  • YMCA of Northeastern Ontario – $10,000 

Officials say NBACF has been providing grants annually to support charities and create impact in our community since 2010.
