The province is supporting the construction of over 500,000 new homes across Ontario through the first round of investments in the $825 million Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund.
The program helps municipalities develop, repair, rehabilitate and expand drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure.
When asked if there are any projects in our area, a Ministry of Infrastructure spokesperson says the first intake includes 54 projects in 60 municipalities across Ontario.
“As municipalities and MPPs are still in the process of announcing successful applications, the full list will be shared in early fall,” reads a statement to MyNorthBayNow.com.
A breakdown of the number of successful projects includes three in Northeastern Ontario, but that’s all that is known at this point.
In response to the high demand for funding, the government is also allocating an additional $250 million for a second round of applications starting on August 14.
