The province is launching a call for proposals for new community-based projects that support survivors of gender-based violence.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing says these initiatives will focus on preventing violence through education and awareness, building safer, healthier communities, and enhancing well-being and economic opportunities for people and families.
$100 million is being invested over the next three years in a four-year, cross-government action plan to combat gender-based violence.
Fedeli says it builds on the province’s existing investments of $1.4 billion over four years to end gender-based violence and support victims.
“Our government has a zero tolerance for violence against women and children in all its forms and we are taking action to prevent and address gender-based violence and its root causes,” says Fedeli. “We encourage our local organization that support victims to submit projects to help more people gain financial independence and assist survivors to rebuild their lives, so they and their families can live safely and securely.”
Organizations, including those locally, with innovative projects or approaches that help prevent or address gender-based violence can apply by October 11.
