Nipissing invites the community to celebrate homecoming

It’s Homecoming Weekend at Nipissing University.

Officials say there are activities and opportunities for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and the community to reconnect and celebrate what it means to be a Laker.

“Homecoming Weekend is always a special time for our alumni to return to campus to reminisce and reconnect with the Nipissing and North Bay communities,” says Bridgette Perron, Alumni Relations Coordinator. “Seeing familiar faces and hearing their stories is what makes this weekend so meaningful.”

Events include a bonfire and Medicine Walk on Friday, followed by free admission to the Lakers Men’s Hockey game versus York at Memorial Gardens.

Saturday includes KidZone activities and lawn games, along with a BBQ, varsity soccer matches, with Nipissing playing Trent, and an evening lacrosse game featuring the Lakers taking on Laurentian.

There are bar, pub and nightclub events each night too.

On Sunday, homecoming wraps up with both of the Lakers soccer teams playing Ontario Tech.

“Homecoming is a great opportunity to showcase the shared pride we have for Nipissing, our community, and the lasting relationships that have been formed here,” says Dr. Kevin Wamsley, President and Vice-Chancellor.
