The North Bay Food Bank and its clients are benefiting from the Purolator Tackle Hunger National Red Bag food drive.
On Saturday, volunteers will drop off approximately 2,000 red bags throughout the community.
Residents are asked to fill their bags with non-perishable food items and leave them on their doorsteps on September 28 (before 9 am) to be picked up by Purolator couriers.
All of the red bags will then be delivered to the food bank to help those in need.
The North Bay Food Bank says it assists about 800-1000 people each month, with 27% being children.
Officials say some of the food bank’s most needed items include pasta, canned goods including meats, fish, vegetables and fruit, peanut butter, baby food, bathroom tissue and personal hygiene products.
Those who do not receive a red bag can donate on the food bank’s website.
Over 1,200 pounds of food was donated locally in the inaugural campaign last year.
