Charges after pot store incidents

Two separate incidents at cannabis stores in North Bay last Saturday have resulted in charges.   

North Bay Police say around 7 am on Jan. 25 a window was smashed at a Main East store several cannabis products stolen, before the suspect fled. 

A 34-year-old Burk’s Falls man was later arrested and charged with break and enter.   

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay court house.

Meantime, police say about 12 hours later, a 38-year-old Astorville man was charged with theft, assault with a weapon and drug possession counts after an incident at a Cassells Street cannabis store.   

Police say a ‘bong’ was stolen and a bystander, who they say was struck with the object, was able to restrain the accused until officers arrived.  

Police seized about 3 grams of suspected fentanyl after a search. 

The accused was released on an undertaking with a March 4 court appearance.
