The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is receiving $235,000 in provincial funding to enhance two patient services.
Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing, announced $96,000 for the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre and $139,000 to cover 556 operating hours in the CT Department.
“The new investment for the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre will support a Clinical Nurse Team Leader to strengthen services and provide clinical leadership, guidance, mentorship, and support to nurses, ensuring survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence can access comprehensive quality care and support where and when they need it,” Fedeli says. “Additionally, the one-time funding to support operational hours in the hospital’s CT department will increase access to key diagnostic services.”
Paul Heinrich, NBRHC President & CEO says the funds will help to enhance services for patients accessing care at the hospital.
“The additional operating hours for our CT department will ensure our community has timely access to CT appointments, while also reducing wait times,” says Heinrich. “The Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Program and Treatment Centre provides emergency health care, psychosocial support and follow up care by specially trained nurses. The Clinical Nurse Educator will ensure we are providing the highest level of service to our community.”
Across Ontario, the government is providing $9.4 million to enhance and expand services at 14 existing Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centres and investing over $23.7 million in 2024-25 to support over 95,000 in-year operating hours for CT machines at hospitals throughout the province.
