A dance event in Mattawa raised more than double its goal in support of the Chemotherapy Unit at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Officials say more than $23,000 was raised.
They say more than 200 guests and local band ‘The Unknowns’ kept the dance floor at the Mike Rodden Arena packed throughout the night.
“This dance was about coming together for our loved ones—our neighbors, friends, parents, and children—who are facing cancer,” says Sheri Wabie, organizer of the event. “My family has been touched by cancer many times and we are currently supporting my dad in his battle. We felt loved and supported when our entire community came forward with such heart and generosity.”
Funds were raised through ticket sales, donations and a silent auction.
“This was an extraordinary evening and we’re deeply grateful to Sheri and her team for the incredible work they put into making it such a success,” says Tammy Morison, President & CEO of the NBRHC Foundation. “Events like Dance for Someone You Love are powerful examples of how individuals, families, businesses, and groups come together to invest in exceptional healthcare close to home.”
Proceeds from the dance are helping fund essential equipment for NBRHC’s Chemotherapy Unit.
