The North Bay Police Service is focusing on several issues for Canada Road Safety Week.
They’re targeting speeding, cell phone and seatbelt use, enclosed mobility scooters and muffler enforcement.
The seven-day national campaign is aimed at making Canada’s roads the safest in the world.
“People can expect to see an increased police presence on our roadways and highways as we focus on enforcement during Road Safety Week targeting distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving and seat belt use,” says Inspector of Operations Jeff Warner. “With the increase in travel throughout the long weekend, our officers will be out there watching for infractions that put the travelling public and our community at risk. We ask everyone to slow down, pay attention to what’s around you and respect the rules of the road”
City police will also be conducting a Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety blitz in partnership with the OPP and MTO.
The theme for Canada Road Safety Week is ‘Road Safety — Every Road. Every Day. Everyone’.
