Distracted driving is more serious than impaired driving.
North Bay Police Chief Shawn Devine says the stats show there are more deaths related to the former cause and that needs to change. He says that’s why city police are working on a traffic safety plan.Devine says it will take more than just the police to make these changes happen and they will need to spread the awareness. He says this will require help from the community to really make an impact.
The Chief says they will look to the community for suggestions and feedback, as well as areas where people feel there needs to be more enforcement .
Devine adds the youth need to set the example and encourage older adults not to use any device while they are driving.
They hope to implement the plan by September.
