Victims of the King Street fire are getting relief faster. A committee has been created to oversee the Fire Victims Relief account at the Sturgeon Falls Caisse Populaire and they have met to try and get those funds to the victims as soon as possible. Many of the victims didn’t have insurance. Close to $4000 was donated at last weekend’s Rock ‘n Ribs Fest, and Arctica Heating and Cooling has donated $500 and is challenging other local businesses to match, exceed or donate what they can to this effort as well. Special fundraisers are being organized including an afternoon performance by Gilles Coutu on Sunday from 1:00pm-6:00pm outside under a big tent at Odeon Bingo with all money raised going to the victims.
