Northern development and natural resources were top of mind for local municipal leaders during the first day of the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.
On Monday, Mayor Al McDonald, Councillors Jeff Serran, Mac Bain and Mark King, sat down with Kathryn McGarry, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry, and Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines.
Among the things discussed were the transfer of the waterfront marina property from the federal government to the City of North Bay, and the transfer of lands at the Trout Lake office complex over to the City for additional park land.
Today, the Mayor will join his Northern Ontario Large Urban Mayor colleagues for a special meeting with the ministers of Municipal Affairs, Finance, Transportation, Energy, and Northern Development and Mines.
