A 34-year-old Mattawa man has been arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police following a stabbing incident.
Yesterday, members of the OPP were called to a residence on Park Street over a report of a man barricading himself inside.
According to police, they located an injured man outside of the house when they arrived. He was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The man barricaded in the residence refused to cooperate with police, even after a number of other units arrived on scene. After some negotiations, the man finally surrendered to police without further incident.
The man was held in custody, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay today for a bail hearing.
