Andrea Horwath unhappy with Liberal throne speech

N-D-P Leader Andrea Horwath’s is not response to whether or not she was happy with the Liberal throne speech, was “absolutely not”.

The Liberal throne speech included a promise to lower electricity bills by an eight per cent rebate for consumers. Horwath believes instead of an electricity rebate, the government should’ve removed the HST off electricity bills completely.

Horwath says no one knows how long the rebate will last. She says the last rebate lasted a couple of years and then the Liberals scrapped it. Horwath added that HST never should’ve been put on the bills in the first place.

Horwath admits the rebate is a very, very small first step, but says much more needs to be done. She says the government continues to fail to understand the challenges Northerner’s face. Horwath believes we’re at a tipping point in the province right now, and after the Liberal throne speech believes we’re going in the wrong direction.

Horwath says Kathleen Wynne has proven that she is not the Premier she said she would be, and that the people of Ontario can see that.
