Domestic violence statistics for July and August

The North Bay Police Service released its July and August statistics for domestic-related calls for service.

Over the month of July, police responded to 105 domestic-related calls. As a result of investigations into these complaints, 27 people were arrested and a total of 73 criminal charges were laid.

17 of the arrests were men, and 10 were women. Among the more serious charges laid: 18 charges of assaults, eight charges of assault with a weapon, one charge of criminal harassment, and seven charges related to domestic violence.

In the month of August, the police responded to 90 more domestic-related calls. Investigations into these complaints led to 14 people getting arrested and a total of 23 criminal charges were laid.

Six men were arrested, and eight women.  Among the more serious charges laid in August: Nine charges of assault, four charges of threatening, one count of criminal harassment, one count of robbery and two counts of failure to comply with release conditions.
