Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the North Bay area. Scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast, with many expected to produce pea-sized hail. Environment Canada says the storms may be abundant enough to partially cover the ground in some areas.
The main concern is damage to tender crops and plants, with isolated wind gusts up to 70 km/h also possible. The organized thunderstorm activity should move east of the area by this evening. The City of North Bay has sent out an advisory stating that because of extremely wet conditions ball diamonds, soccer fields and football fields will be closed for today. All games and practices are cancelled.
