Coming off a successful edition of the Terry Fox Run in 2016, the organizing committee hopes to keep the momentum going in 2017 for the 37th run.
Summer has re-emerged this week and the sunny skies and warm temperatures are forecasted to last through the weekend, including for the run this Sunday. The event will take place from 8:30 am until noon and will start and finish at the Rotary Pavilion at North Bay’s waterfront.
Organizing committee member John Picard says the event is accessible to all and intended to be fun for families and all involved. There are 5 km and 10 km distances, and although no minimum donation is required to take part, the community is encouraged to raise funds by pledges or donation to honour the legacy of Terry Fox. Last year, $11,756 was raised, which Picard says was a 70 per cent increase over 2015.
Hard copies of donation forms have been placed at businesses around town or interested parties can visit the North Bay Terry Fox Run Facebook page.
