The City of North Bay has 130 million reasons to smile.
Nipissing University has released an economic impact statement demonstrating its financial relationship with the city it calls home.
The school held an event at City Hall Friday to share the economic impact of Nipissing University on North Bay as $130 million dollars.
The KPMG study covers 2016-17 and reports Nipissing University is a top-three employer, putting $81.7 million into the local economy annually. This includes salaries and wages plus benefits.
The economic impact of students who come from out of town to study here is reported as $44.3 million per year by KPMG. Included in this amount are housing, food, and books and supplies.
