UPDATED: Mystery west-end development off Highway 17 revealed

You may recall a video (below)  from North Bay realtor Mike Burman in March with some cryptic comments about development, jobs and growth.

A billboard recently erected on the same plot Burman was speaking about indicates a Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites will build and operate on the land.

Toronto-based company DB Vision Development’s President Dhanwant Bhatti said the 92-room hotel will create 20 full-time jobs initially, with the possibility of 10 part-time jobs to be added when operations commence.

Construction is imminent, with Bhatti confirming a mid-July start and a target of next summer for the doors to open.

Burman said then he had to keep the details under wraps until the sale was finalized but promised to reveal more when he could. Burman, the broker of record for Realty Executives Local Group Inc. called the development “very exciting for the City of North Bay, as a big business has bought this parcel of land. They will be building, creating jobs and providing a boost to the economy,” he said.

Sudbury is home to a Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites and amenities include free high-speed internet, free breakfast, a fitness centre and a pool.

According to the Marriott website, “As the lodging leader in North America, Marriott offers a full range of options for guests and developer – from luxury to select service – that allows owners to place the right brand in the right market for each opportunity. Today, there are more than 5,100 hotels operating across the United States and Canada, with over 1,600 more in the development pipeline.”

Meanwhile, “The Fairfield brand is designed to deliver an inviting and effortless experience for guests. Reaching a milestone of 1,000 global properties in 2019, the brand believes in the beauty of the familiar and the pleasure in getting exactly what you expect.”
