Monday will see the City of North Bay reintroduce transit fees, and once again crack down on parking in the downtown core.
The City had stopped charging fares on transit due to COVID-19 concerns, but with new measures in place, Mayor Al McDonald says the time is right.
“We’re going back to a more regular service,” he said. “Anyone who bought a bus pass in March, it is good now until the end of June. When you get on a bus, our drivers are protected behind the Plexiglas.”
As for parking enforcement, McDonald says they never formally announced they had stopped, but they had relaxed on the process.
“We haven’t really been enforcing parking, we were very relaxed,” he explained. “The only time that we really gave out tickets was if someone was parked in loading zones or handicap spots where they shouldn’t be, but we’re back to regular enforcement because some people were just taking advantage of taking up all the parking spots on Main Street.”
