As we head into the home stretch with tax season, there’s a warning from a police force in Northern Ontario to watch for a tax scam. Police in Sault Ste. Marie say homeowners in their city are getting e-mails that look like they’re from the Canada Revenue Agency. The e-mail provides a link for people to pay their taxes through an electronic money transfer. Police say if you do that, you’re actually sending money to a con artist. The CRA is aware of the scam and is not the e-mail sender adding it never asks for money this way.
