A North Bay man is facing charges after police say he allegedly robbed a Lakeshore business.
City police say shortly after 6 pm on Jan. 5, officers responded to reports of a theft estimated to be valued at over $2,000 from the business.
Police say the accused was confronted during the robbery by staff and proceeded to flee using the business’ fire emergency exit door, which tripped the fire alarm. Once outside, the accused was once again confronted by staff and this time, allegedly took out an edged weapon and threatened the staff member before fleeing on foot.
The accused was located on Lee Avenue and arrested after a foot pursuit that ended up in the backyard of a home.
Police say a search of the accused revealed the weapon.
The 30-year-old North Bay man is charged with
- One count of Robbery with violence
- One count of Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm
- One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- One count of False alarm of fire
The accused is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
