NBRHC gets more provincial funding

The province is investing over $2.5 million into the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC).

Vic Fedeli, Nipissing MPP, says the money is for COVID-19 support.

“Our government is grateful for the incredible efforts and sacrifices made by the North Bay Regional Health Centre to protect the health and safety of local citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “We continue to find new ways to support the hospital sector as the pandemic evolves.”

The funding breakdown is as follows:

  • $1,806,134 in COVID-19 related reimbursements for Q1 of this fiscal year
  • $775,454 in reimbursements for the months of February and March of FY 2020-2021

Paul Heinrich, President and CEO of NBRHC says the funds will help stabilize as they move forward the next stages of the pandemic.

“The money will help cover some of the additional costs incurred by hospitals to ensure we could continue to provide a safe environment for our staff, patients and community,” he said.

“The doctors and nurses and other health care professionals at the North Bay Regional Health Centre have been on the frontline of the pandemic since the very beginning, helping to safeguard the community, while treating those with COVID-19 and other patients,” said Mayor Al McDonald. “I would like to thank the provincial government for its continued support for our regional hospital. This funding will help ensure that North Bay and area residents will continue receiving excellent care.”
