The Kinsmen Trail is being extended along a stretch of Airport Road.
Work begins next week between the intersection of Algonquin Avenue and the trailhead near the Davedi Club.
Along with an asphalt path, the city says the project includes the installation of curbs, gutters, storm sewers, a retaining wall and road restoration.
Crews will be installing the storm sewers starting on Monday, Sept. 5 with work taking place overnights from 7 pm to 7 am, until Friday, Sept. 9.
During the overnight work, traffic will be reduced to one lane with portable traffic lights.
A second crew will start working during the day on Tuesday, Sept. 6 along the south side of Airport Road, with one lane of traffic in each direction being provided.
The project is tentatively scheduled to wrap up on November 11.
