City man charged with assault with a weapon

An incident on Saturday at an apartment building on Algonquin Avenue has led to charges for a 29-year-old city man.

The North Bay Police Service says a person, who doesn’t live at the building, went inside and brandished an edged weapon after being asked to leave by another person, who is unknown to the accused.

The victim, according to police, tried to leave and was chased, but was able to get away without injury.

Officers arrived and arrested the accused, who they say also pulled two fire alarms in the building.

Police say a search resulted in stolen photo identification cards being located.

The accused is facing three charges including assault with a weapon and was held for a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
