Fatal fire in Bonfield Monday

Ontario Provincial Police report two people are dead after a fire on Maple Road in Bonfield.  

The North Bay OPP and Bonfield Fire Department responded to the blaze just after 3:30 am on Monday, Oct. 24 with two people located deceased inside the structure. 

Police say the victim’s identities have not been confirmed at this time.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by members of the North Bay OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) in partnership with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology service (OCC-OFPS).

The OPP says while the investigation is ongoing, they do not believe there is no risk to the public at this time.
